DGM HQ.
A sunny morning along the Chalke Valley. Left…
Right…
Look a little farther down & you can see a For Sale board on a former-office premises now converted to a highly expensive bungalow…
The village has very few dedicated office spaces, and this was one of them. When the Minx & Fripp left Reddish House in 1999, DGM nearly acquired the premises for our offices. The negotiations fell through, but the building was sold some time later for re-development as residential. A useful site to work, an awful site to live, the expense of conversion makes this a pricey place to avoid. And it is, remaining unsold for some time. This was a dopey idea, and a costly one.
The Vicar Chronicles and Punk’s viddy-blog has brought Punk’s mess to DGM HQ, adding to the already sufficient mess that has passes for organisation here. Perhaps not known is that Punk’s theme music, if the term is appropriate, is created on the mellotron used by Ian MacDonald on In The Court Of The Crimson King. It is presently in DGM SoundWorld I covered by Detritus of Punk & surrounded by the recently-returned Solar Voyager.
The Vicar Chronicles is a rare example on GooTube of what YouTube was, nominally & supposedly, created to serve: the creative contributions of its social networkers.
Here in the Venal Chamber: listening to Gavin Harrison’s (Gavin’s Myspace site) tracks for work tomorrow in SoundWorld II.
Perhaps less well known is that Gavin’s pedagogical work was a considerable influence on KC’s B’Boom & some of the double-drum exchanges of the Double Trio, which Bartley Butsford freely acknowledged.
12.22 Our Landlord has called to ask if I heard anyone around the premises last night: someone attempted to break into the barn. We agree that Les would have taken care of this problem. Time for me to visit the Village Store to acquire mouldering bananas for a DGM Whippy Drink Of Health & Vitality. On long afternoons & longer evenings this fires up the spirits of those who give their lives to serve DGM.
15.30 E-frenzying. The inbox is at 183, online access has crashed, but enough for now anyway.
Look what has arrived for lucky me I…
